This polarization distracts us from the core values that built New Hampshire and the U.S.: diversity, education, innovation, and freedom.I served in the Air Force to protect these American values, but today they are under threat. Instead of advancing, we’re rolling back progress in education, minority rights, and women’s rights, and we’re seeing our freedoms replaced with threats of theocracy and dictatorship.<h3>My Leadership Philosophy</h3>In business, I learned to lead by serving, to listen before acting, and to work toward common goals. I believe that if we truly listen to each other, we can bridge divides and work toward a brighter future.With my skills, experiences, and commitment, I am ready to lead us forward as a member of the NH House of Representatives. I am dedicated to representing Deering and Francestown in Concord and helping bring us together again.

When I moved here from Connecticut in the '90s, having served in the Air Force and seen the world, I knew this was the perfect place to raise my family. New Hampshire’s excellent schools, safe towns, and natural beauty made it the ideal place to build our future.As a single working parent, I faced the same challenges as many families today—juggling work, budgets, and family time. Despite the demands, my greatest achievement was providing my children with a stable home and education.Today, they are making a difference: one is the Principal of Souhegan High School, and the other works in public health across New England. A few years ago, my husband Timothy, our dog Luna, and several chickens moved back to New Hampshire to be near them. We’ve settled into a more balanced life on our little farm in Francestown.

These rights are essential to gender equality, allowing individuals to plan their families, careers, and lives on their own terms. By safeguarding these rights, we uphold the values of privacy, dignity, and autonomy, ensuring that all people can choose what is best for their health and well-being without government interference. It's about protecting freedom, ensuring fairness, and standing up for the rights of all individuals.<h3>New Hampshire is NOT like the other New England states in this regard.</h3>In New England, it is only in NH that abortion care is not explicitly protected or even expanded. All New England states except New Hampshire — Maine, Vermont, Massachusetts, RI&nbsp; and CT&nbsp;plus NY and NJ — have enacted specific legislative and statutory protections for abortion. And although Massachusetts has a&nbsp; 24-week restriction, all other New England states have no bans prior to viability. Unlike our neighbors, NH has no protections for reproductive freedom, and as a result, reproductive freedom is constantly attacked in our statehouse. Both Six week and 15-day bans were proposed just last year. Funding for abortion care is prohibited in NH — even to the extent that even basic healthcare funding that is specifically earmarked as such is turned away and refused simply because some providers also provide abortion care.&nbsp; Whereas in the neighboring states, public funding for abortion care is protected, and in some states, private insurance is even mandated. Abortion care is healthcare in the Northeast, except in NH.

Despite New Hampshire's historically low per-pupil state funding, our public schools have persevered thanks to the dedication of its educators. The current trend of funneling taxpayer money away from public schools to private, religious, and home schools through Education Freedom Accounts (EFAs) threatens the quality of education for all students. Additionally, other actions, such as the divisive concepts of law, undermine teachers' ability to provide honest, inclusive education, further eroding trust in our schools.New Hampshire's reliance on local property taxes to fund public education places an unfair burden on property owners. This system forces towns to raise tax rates to unsustainable levels, all while struggling to provide the same quality of education. Instead of addressing this, current efforts to continuously cut education spending only exacerbate the problem, leaving our public schools underfunded and our property owners overwhelmed. Cutting education spending is a short-sighted approach that fails to recognize the long-term consequences for our students, communities, and economy. Susan believes that the solution lies in reforming the school funding system to ensure fair, adequate, and equitable state support for all New Hampshire public schools while alleviating the disproportionate tax burden on local property owners. Investing in public education is investing in the future of New Hampshire, and Susan is committed to making that investment a priority so that all children have access to a world-class education.
